The Dutch International Tangoweek Orchestra led by conductor and pianist Wim Warman has been a permanent artistic fixture at the festival since 2023. With a distinctive instrumentation and a strong sound of its own, the orchestra brings Argentine tango to life in its full depth and richness, energetic, layered and expressive. This year’s concert program has a special and surprising theme: tango arrangements of well-known hits from the 1980s. Iconic songs from this decade are given a whole new color in stylish, rhythmically refined tango arrangements. Recognition and innovation come together in a program that appeals to both seasoned tango lovers and new audiences.

The orchestra consists of specialized musicians with a strong affinity for Argentine tango and other world music genres. It is known for its ensemble playing and musical eloquence. Under the direction of Wim Warman, tradition and creativity are linked in original productions. The Dutch International Tangoweek Orchestra is not only a festival ensemble, but also an artistic platform for talent development and its own productions. With this orchestra, Tangoweek is actively building the future of tango in the Netherlands. This is audible in the energy, precision and expression of each performance.

The Dutch International Tangoweek Orchestra has now released several albums, demonstrating that it is more than a festival ensemble: it is a sustainable artistic project that actively contributes to the development and renewal of tango in the Netherlands.
