Orquesta Tipica deLeones (FR)
20:00 - 20:45Orquesta Tipica deLeonesNo single concert tickets, only in day and festival tickets

Strength, vitality, urgency and sensitivity characterize the work of the DeLeones Tango Orquesta. With ten musicians (piano, double bass, three violins, viola, cello, three bandoneons), they will take you back several decades, to a black-and-white Buenos Aires, where tango, born on the sidewalk and in the suburbs, has taken the world by storm.

Following the example of the great tango orchestras of the 1940s and 1950s, the ensemble performs Tangos by the most important composers of the Golden Age.

Thanks to its own identity, and by rigorously relying on the musical heritage of the Argentine dialect, the orchestra will shake the audience with the sounds of its marcattos. Combining popular, precise and contemporary energy, the DeLeones Tango Orquesta will appeal to both music and dance lovers.

12:00 - 17:00Milonga DJ Katerina (UA)Single afternoon milonga, subject to availability at the door: 10 euros

A milonga is an occasion especially for dancers, dancing to music played by a DJ. Especially for the Dutch and international guests who also come to dance.

DJ Katerina:

I have been dancing tango since 2012 and have been playing as a TDJ since 2014 – at local milongas and international events in Ukraine, Turkey, Netherlands, Cyprus, Lithuania, Chech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Germany.
Tango for me is a journey of search driven by deep feelings, a quest to match music and dance, a way to build connections between partners and the ronda.
My motto as a dancer is “When the music doesn’t move me, I don’t move” so as a DJ I always aim to burn the dancefloor with perfect tandas that awakens emotions and helps spark chemistry between partners.
The main qualities of a DJ in my opinion are dedication to tango, love and respect to the heritage of tango music, good knowledge of musical material and a huge desire to give joy and pleasure to people who came dancing tango.
I believe that it’s the dance floor that dictates the choices to the DJ, not other way around. Thus, I neither program my music in advance of the event nor I attempt to “educate” or “challenge” the dancers. My only goal is to deliver the best danceable music and abundant energy to the floor. Nothing can give me more pleasure than a floor full of people having a good time from the first to last tanda, without any exception.
What to expect? Traditional tango music, mostly focused on the Golden Age (late 30s and 40s), with occasional deviations for earlier or later periods.

L’Armenonville was the name of the cabaret where the famous Tango singer Carlos Gardel, made his debut one New Year’s Eve in 1913. For nine years in Buenos Aires, this cabaret was one of the most famous places for tango lovers, and since its name comes from a hunting lodge in the Bois de Boulogne near Paris, it made sense for a French band to adopt this name to create echoes between this city and the Argentine capital.
