Tango de Nácar is a new show, born from the collaboration of five of today’s leading tango musicians. Much more than a traditional quintet, this ensemble represents a fusion of traditions: decades of experience, personal styles and musical philosophies, brought together to create something fundamentally new. Like pearl, formed layer by layer over time, Tango de Nácar is a sonic reflection of tango’s history and its ongoing evolution.
The group draws inspiration from the great masters of all eras – Pugliese, Piazzolla, Troilo, Gobbi,
Salgán, and others – and reinterprets their works through original arrangements. In this way, the group explores the boundaries of tango and allows it to flow naturally into other contemporary musical styles. The result is not a rupture, but a deepening: a dialogue between eras, styles and identities.Tango de Nácar is more than a project. It is a magnificent offering, a tribute to the soul of tango, reinvented by those who have it in their blood.
The ensemble recorded its debut album, Retratos, which was released in July 2024. The album features original arrangements that combine sophistication, emotion and a bold musical vision.
