La Orquesta Típica Andariega was founded in Buenos Aires in September 2009 with the idea of creating a new danceable tango based on classical tango. The repertoire is a mix is of new arrangements of the most popular tangos, waltzes, milongas and new tango compositions. The rhythmic and danceable spirit of the 1940s is blended with the energy of the new tango movement of the current millennium.

18:30 - 20:15Dutch Tangoweek Orchestra (NL)

The Dutch Tangoweek Orchestra shows what danceable tango can sound like. Composed of the best Dutch musicians from different backgrounds. Led by pianist and arranger Wim Warman, the orchestra will take you through the history, present and future of Argentine Tango and showcase their own vision of its cultural heritage. In which the improvised nature of the music again comes into full play. In doing so, the orchestra goes back in the history of the music movement.

Composed especially for this festival of Dutch tango and jazz musicians, the orchestra consists of:

  • Wim Warman, piano and arrangements
  • Ruzana Tsymbalova, violin
  • Gert van Ruiswijk, bandoneon
  • Ruben van Rompaey, percussion
  • Taco Nieuwenhuizen-Segaar, double bass and bass guitar

Earlier, the Dutch Tangoweek Orchestra released an album of Nederpop songs given a tango jacket.

21:15 - 23:00Electro Dub Tango (AR)

Electro Dub Tango is the result of producer Jimena Fama ‘s quest to combine the nostalgia of tango with the progressive power of electronic music. The band is known worldwide for its energetic performances and the unique blend of styles that makes its music so special. The band combines the energy of electronic music, the deep grooves of dub and the passion of tango to create a unique, rhythmic experience that appeals to listeners and dancers alike. Each performance is an adventure, combining traditional instruments of tango, such as the bandoneón, with modern synthesizers and beats.

Jimena Fama is a passionate producer, composer and musician from Argentina, who combines her roots in tango with modern electronic influences. Her career began in the traditional Argentine music scene. Her curiosity about new sounds and technologies led her to explore the boundaries of tango.

Singer Lenore Huang and multi-instrumentalist Stefan Brunner bring Argentine tango to life with deep passion and refined musicality. Their interplay weaves melancholy, intensity and warmth of tango into an immersive experience that touches the heart as well as the soul.

Lenore Huang brings the stories of tango with unique depth and emotion, mesmerizing audiences with her expressive voice. Her vocals touch the essence of the genre: longing, nostalgia and passion. At the moment she is one of the most promising talents in tango music. Stefan Brunner complements her with virtuosic and subtle guitar playing, rooted in the rich tradition of tango and South American music. Together, they create an intimate and intense atmosphere in which the poetry and rhythm of tango are fully realized.

From the timeless classics of Anibal Troilo and the iconic tango singer Tita Merello to the innovative sounds of Astor Piazzolla, Huang & Brunner bring a refined and moving interpretation of tango. Perfect for lovers of intense music, poetic lyrics and the pure passion of the Argentine soul. This performance will last 2x 45 minutes and there will be an intermission. Julie & Andreas Rokseth

Immerse yourself in the profound sounds of tango and the refined elegance of classical music in a unique concert by Julie & Andrés Rokseth. This exceptional duo consists of harp and bandoneón. They create a musical world where passion and subtlety go hand in hand.

Astor Piazzolla’s music already formed a bridge between the classical tradition and Argentine tango. Julie and Andrés build on this with their own innovative interpretations. With stunning virtuosity and intense musical dialogue, they perform a concert in which melancholy and joy merge – an experience that hits you in the heart.

Whether you are a lover of tango, classical or simply beautiful music, this concert promises an evening of emotion, sophistication and compelling melodies. This performance will last 2x 45 minutes and there will be an intermission. An intermission drink is included in the price. A dance floor is available for enthusiasts.

Duo Sensiblero

Tango is a language of passion, melancholy and desire. Duo Sensiblero speaks that language like no other. Bandoneón virtuoso Victor Villena (AR) and violinist Sabrina Condello (FR) will take you on a musical journey through the soul of Buenos Aires.

Victor Villena was born in Argentina in 1979 and began studying bandoneon at the age of 9 in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. At the age of 17 he was chosen by the National Tango Academy of Buenos Aires as a ‘revelation as a bandoneonist’. In 1997 he won the prize for best soloist at the Argentine National Competition. In 1999 he left Argentina to settle in France. His talent allows him to perform on the most renowned stages around the world such as the Hollywood Bowl (USA), Broadway 54 (USA), The London Barbican and the London Queen’s Hall (UK). In 2022 he will give a solo recital at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

At his side is Sabrina Condello, a violinist with an unerring sense of the drama and tenderness of tango. Her playing is expressive, intense and compelling, making each piece tell a story. Together they perform a repertoire that ranges from grandmasters Astor Piazzolla and Aníbal Troilo to hidden gems from the Argentine music tradition. This performance will last 2x 45 minutes and there will be an intermission. An intermission drink is included in the price. A dance floor is available for enthusiasts.
